A Census Place Strung Along a Chain of Lakes

The name fits. Inside the census boundary the mapped lakes include Lake Padgett, Saxon Lake, East Lake, Lake Joyce, Black Lake and Dupree Lake. The place covers about 49.6 square kilometers of land and another 5.9 of water, with 35,929 residents counted in 2020. Sandy Soils With Wet Pockets Between the Lakes

The soil map gives this place a mix rather than one answer. Adamsville fine sand took 14.3% of sample points and is rated "somewhat limited" for dwellings, Smyrna fine sand and Tavares sand took 10.7% each, and Myakka, Sellers, Zolfo, Pomona, Sparr and Basinger each took small shares. Two entries stand out: Okeelanta-Terra Ceia, rated "very limited," and Sellers mucky loamy fine sand, both at 7.1%.

A driveway on one block may sit on clean sand while the next block over has a muck pocket under the topsoil. The median house here was built in 1999. Of 14,262 occupied homes, about 83 percent are owner-occupied, and about 77 percent of housing units are single-family detached. A driveway poured with a 1999 house is more than 25 years old now, so the likely jobs are replacing a cracked or stained slab, widening for a third vehicle, swapping a worn lanai or paver patio for poured concrete, and adding walks.

Concrete Contractors in Land O' Lakes: Who Permits the Work

This unincorporated community is Pasco County. Building permits come from Pasco County Building Construction Services, and applications go through the county's PascoGateway portal. One of Pasco's Central Permitting offices sits on US 41 inside the community itself. The county lists it as open by appointment only on weekdays, so book before you go. Rebuilding the apron where your driveway meets the road falls under Pasco's Driveway Connection Permit: 12 feet wide at minimum, 24 at most, with 3-foot flared ends, finished within 180 days of starting. The county asks for a Sunshine One Call locate 48 hours ahead and a day's notice before work, and its Engineering Inspections staff decide on any culvert. Owners can act as their own contractor on a main home that is not a rental. Permits last six months from issue or the last passed inspection.

US 41, SR 54 and SR 597: Check Who Owns the Road First

The town is built around US 41, which carries the name Land O' Lakes Boulevard through town, with SR 54, SR 597 (North Dale Mabry Highway), CR 583 (Ehren Cutoff) and Collier Parkway among the other roads inside the boundary. Under Florida Statute 335.182, connections to the State Highway System, driveways included, are regulated by the Florida Department of Transportation. Pasco's right-of-way checklist lists FDOT's One Stop Permitting as another approval that may apply.

Those three numbered routes are on the state system: the FDOT State Roads layer carries US 41 as State Road 45, plus SR 54 and SR 597, through the boundary.
